Omkareshwar

  Per Person - ₹16000.00/-

Omkareshwar, situated on the Mandhata island in the Narmada River of Madhya Pradesh, is a profoundly sacred destination famous for being one of the twelve Jyotirlingas. The specialty of this holy site lies in the very shape of the island itself, which naturally resembles the sacred Hindu symbol "Om" when viewed from above. Unlike many other pilgrimage sites, Omkareshwar offers a unique dual-temple experience; the island is home to the Omkareshwar temple, while the nearby bank houses the Mamleshwar temple, and it is traditionally believed that a pilgrimage is only complete after visiting both. The spiritual energy here is deeply tied to the Narmada River, which is considered so holy that the mere sight of it is said to purify the soul, making the ritual of the Narmada Parikrama a significant event for devotees. The experience of Omkareshwar is defined by its beautiful riverside setting and ancient stone architecture. One of the most popular activities is the Parikrama, a 6-kilometer walk around the island that takes pilgrims past several smaller shrines, ashrams, and stunning views of the river. To cross between the mainland and the island, visitors can use the modern suspension bridges (Jhula Pul) or take a scenic boat ride, which offers a grand perspective of the temple's massive 5-storeyed structure and carved stone pillars. Nearby, the confluence of the Narmada and Kaveri rivers at the Sangam is a peaceful spot for a holy dip. The best time to visit is from October to March, particularly during Maha Shivratri or the month of Sawan, when the temple and the riverbanks come alive with thousands of lamps and chanting, creating a truly mystical atmosphere.
